IIT gain control
The project entailed the design, development, and testing of an AVR-based gain control system for an Image Intensifier Tube (IIT) night vision device, with a strong emphasis on low power consumption. Since the device had strict space and weight constraints, minimizing energy use was critical for extending operational duration. The system was programmed so that the CPU remained idle whenever possible, only waking to perform necessary adjustments. This approach reduced unnecessary activity, saving power while also contributing to reduced heat, smaller batteries, and lighter overall design. Functionally, the system automatically adjusted the gain to enhance image quality and clarity in varying light conditions. The design focused on a responsive and robust control mechanism that integrated seamlessly with the IIT system, ensuring optimal performance under diverse operational scenarios. The project covered the full development cycle—from conceptual design to prototyping, testing, and final implementation—while maintaining reliability, efficiency, and user-centered operation.
